The Lord of the Rings Online, or LotRO for short, is a great new Masively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game (MMORPG). It is based around J.R.R. Tolkien’s masterpiece, The Lord of the Rings. Most games that are made to be based on books do not stay very true to the story. However, LotRO is different. The game follows the world that Tolkien created as well as it possibly could. The characters, species, settings, and atmosphere found in LotRO are strikingly similar to those of the books.
One of the main things that you will do when playing The Lord of the Rings Online is go on quests. Quests are simply small tasks that you do for computer-controlled characters. Quests range in difficulty and length, but all reward you with either Experience Points, LotRO gold, or in some cases, both. Experience points help you game levels and prestige, and LotRO gold is the in-game currency, which fuels all transactions and trade that take place in the game. There are only 40 quests in the entire game, which may sound like few to you.
